Top 10 Fatherhood Quotes

If there’s one lessons I would like to share from my years as an entrepreneur, it’s that no matter how great your adventures are or how many great achievements and milestones you hit, being able to share these career highlights with family is what makes them truly fulfilling. Since becoming a father of two, the way I approach most things in my life has certainly changed.

I used to think that was just something parents said, but now that I’ve experienced fatherhood first-hand, I can confirm that it’s true. Once you become a dad, there’s a serious shift in priorities and the things that once brought you the most joy may not make you as happy as they once did. Conversely, you learn to find happiness in smaller things that you previously might not have paid attention to.

I recently came across an interesting article in Fortune, titled “How Business Has Changed Fatherhood”. As the writer points out, “recent societal changes are shifting the landscape of fatherhood. There are now more opportunities than ever before for dads to be involved in the lives of their kids, no matter where they work or how many hours they work… Smart dads are taking note of the cultural shifts in our society, adjusting accordingly, and avoiding the potential pitfalls these changes bring.”

After reading the article, I couldn’t help but look for others addressing the realities of ‘dadpreneurs’. The search results not only proved that I wasn’t alone in my feelings, but encouraged me to embrace them further. I highly recommend giving ‘4 Ways Fatherhood Has Made Me a Better Entrepreneur‘ a read in which Peter Gasca boldly writes: “Becoming a father toppled the paradigm that entrepreneurs had to chose between business and parenthood. In reality, I found them to be very complementary.”

Also fascinating is Inc.’s interview with ‘4 Dadpreneurs [who] describe what drives them to succeed in fatherhood and business’. They also share their best pieces of advice. Take Howard Berkowitz, investor in British Swim School, for example. “Lead by example and have strong integrity and work ethic,” he says. “Start a business that gives you the opportunity to teach your own children how to run the shop themselves. Setting your children up for success in life is one of the most important duties of fatherhood and, by opening your own business, you’re creating a real-life learning opportunity for them.” So true.

The reality is that whether we’re talking about business or personal life, I look at things differently now. Although business and entrepreneurship will always be close to my heart, they no longer hold the top spot that’s now devoted to my family. What’s more, my kids, although still toddlers, have inspired the way I conduct my business as well. Take Playster, for example. I want this streaming service to be great for all members of the family, which is why I’ve put such a big focus on offering content that’s suitable for even the youngest entertainment lovers. A sentiment that I think is perfectly highlighted in these 10 famous parenting quotes.
